Rajasthani Thali – Food With Desserts From The Desert Land

Posted in Indian food

Have you ever been to the magical desert land to the Northwest of India that is situated amidst the sand dunes? If you have been unable to go there, why not let the meals from the land come to you in a box? You can easily order them in and relish them at the comfort of your home.

Take in a bit of everything

The Rajasthani Thali comes with a bit of everything – vegetables, spices, condiments, the Indian flatbread cooked with the finest pulses, and much more. When you sink your teeth into the Thali, you are not only relishing some healthy and sumptuous food but you are also digging into a royal feast that only the kings and queens of Rajasthan used to have back in the day. A decent variety is offered in the Rajasthani Thali like any other Indian Thali. The Dal-Baati-Churma is one of the delicacies you must not miss while ordering in Rajasthani cuisine. In fact, this delicacy is usually always included in the traditional Rajasthani Thali. Of course, these foods are no longer prepared in the kitchens of emperors but you can definitely have a royal time when you eat them from a local restaurant.

A royal feast

Even though there is scarcity of water in the desert land, the people have made the best use of whatever is available to feed the others. In fact, they have been following this tradition of including variegated mouth-watering items in the Thali for generations. Even diabetics can enjoy a royal feast since the number of sweets included in the Thali are limited and the amount of sugar used is also quite less. Moreover, the Thali is accompanied by finger licking good chutneys, curries, desserts, dals, peppery papads, etc. So, why plan a holiday to the desert land when you can order the same from your local restaurant that lets you take the Thali home in a box?
